Your goal is to kill all the zombies before they overwhelm you with sheer numbers and eat your sweet, sweet braaaains.

I have always liked the Boxhead series of games, because even though the pace has always been a little slow, the volume of zombies that the game throws at you can make it almost unnerving. In addition to the typical slow moving zombie hoards, this update gives us better graphics, faster moving characters, and some better weapons. The game seems to have done away with the creepy zombie groaning of the original, but the new boards and characters are a welcome addition.

With a score of only 533,000, I’m no Ash Williams, but maybe you can prove yourself worthy. Let me know how you do in the comments.

Good Luck!

The game does have a pink butterfly, but it has frickin’ lasers strapped to its head and is being followed around by these angry little lights who are looking to kick the mechanical ass of every robot that they can find.

The game is like Galaxian on crack, but the twist that makes it replayable is the weapon absorption. By holding down the X key, you can absorb the powers of robots who are near you. The robots get better and better weapons as the game progresses, so you end up having to decide whether to kill a robot on sight, or risk being killed in the melee while you attempt to absorb its powers.

It’s all robots, lasers, and a kick ass butterfly, and I didn’t a single baby bird, tree, or anyone in a cape the whole time I was playing.

My best score was a little over 13,000, but I’m sure you can do better. Post your high scores in the comments.

Every time you touch a box, you collect the points, and another red buggle appears on the screen.

Each blue box starts at 10 points, but with every passing second, the box’s value drops and your size increases, making speed as important as accuracy. Every 20 boxes, you get a little relief in the form of a green buggle, which gives you a small amount of time to destroy some of the red buggles that inevitably fill up the screen.

I’ve played a few variations of this game before (such as Ballo), but I think the added time pressure makes this game a lot more more fun than its peers.

Where PongOut makes things interesting is that you have to play both games on a split screen at the same time. You move the mouse horizontally to control the breakout paddle, and vertically to control the pong paddle. It’s like wrestling two seniors at once: You don’t know why it’s challenging or appealing, but strangely, you keep going back for more.

When I play, I tend to suddenly and inexplicably stop paying attention to one of the sides and lose a couple of lives before I realize what’s going on, so the best I’ve been able to do is 11,035. The only essential trick to doing well in this game is knowing that pressing ‘M’ will mute the music.

Enjoy!
Advanced defenses are unlocked as you progress, but they never seem to be enough. If you let ten enemies get by you, the game ends.

Tower defense games have never held my interest, so I wasn’t expecting to like this one, but Canyon Defense has been very addictive for me. Not only is it more intuitive than than most tower defense games, but it’s the first that I’ve found that appeals to people who were into Starcraft rather than Warcraft.

My best score is somewhere in the 116,000 range and <strike>I’ve never unlocked more than four levels of defenses.</strike>

You can only discard a card that is one higher or lower than the discard pile irrespective of suit.

For each successive card that you play before your computerized opponent, your points for that card double (i.e. the first card you play is worth two, the second is worth four, the third is worth eight, and so on) until your opponent plays a card and resets the points back to two. Each round gets successively faster until you find yourself cursing your opponent as if it could hear you.

In my best game, I reached level 6 and ended up with a total of 6,160 points. #1GF! reached level 20, earning a whopping 10,424 points. Those are the scores to beat, folks.

Instead of making nice, you use the arrow keys and space bar to blow them up with your dynamite. This is in the style of a classic arcade game, and like those games, it’s simple and fun. I didn’t have a problem beating it on the highest levels, but I still found it fun enough to replay over and over.

If you’re still winding down from the family visits and last minute shopping, there’s nothing like a dose of virtual dynamite to clear out that holiday stress.

I managed to get 10.17 in level A, 15.84 in level B, and 2.91 in level D. The rest I gave up on to keep me from throwing my monitor against the wall. None of the scores were remotely good enough to get me into the top 50, and I’m sure you’ll beat them easily.

All you have to do is drag the rings into stacks from largest on bottom to smallest on top. Stacking two is worth 250, three is 500, and four is worth 1000. You have to make a certain amount of stacks to pass each round, and the game ends when a you fail to stop a larger ring from landing on top of a smaller ring.

I managed to get 108,250 points in round 11. Post your high scores to the comments…

I have no idea how I did it, and I haven’t been able to get past the first opponent since.

The game uses the Z key for low shots and the X key for high shots. Otherwise, it’s just a matter of moving the mouse to where the ball is.

A couple of days ago, when I wrote I wrote about the flash game-a-thon that turned #1GF! into a competitive maniac, I was so burned out from playing so many games that I completely forgot to link to the some of the good ones. Since I’ll be off tomorrow, and this post is surely going to burn #1GF!’s muffin, I leave you the results of the first annual Flash Game Big Battle. If you beat the scores, you put them in the comments.

Bounceout: This is a the simplest, and one of the oldest, “match 3″ games that #1GF! has been solidly beating me at for years. It made a comeback for this competition.
Result: #1GF!: Way, way, more than 10,566, Me: 10,566

Super Collapse!: This is one of the granddaddies of “match 3″ games, at which #1GF! usually mauls me. This time, the tables were turned. I think the only thing better than the nerve wracking ticking, is the explosion sounds.
Result: Me: 224,000, #1GF!: Lower than 224,000

Panic Box: All you have to do is use your mouse to keep the little black square in the big blue square while the game distracts you. This game makes me mad, and makes #1GF! into a competitive fireball.
Result: #1GF!: 50, Me: 34

Fast Food: You are this crazy looking rabbit that has to make fast food orders. You have to pour soda, cheese, salsa, and chocolate on the appropriate food items as they roll by on the counter. This started off really easy, but ended up causing a lot of laughs and frustration as the orders got harder. I’d have to say that this ended up being a favorite of the competition.
Results: Me: 1660, #1GF!: 910)

Papa’s Pizza: You’re the pizza maker at Papa’s Pizza. Your only job is to make the pizzas as the orders come in. The faster you make them, the longer you stay in business. It’s simple, but I love listening to the guy grumble out the orders.
Result: Me: 203, #1GF!: less than 203

Jewel Miner: In this “match 3″ puzzle variation, the goal is to make matches that destroy all of the background tiles on the board. Do that before the claim jumpers drill into your mine, and you move on to the next level. #1GF! didn’t really like this one for some reason.
Result: Me: 140735, #1GF!: (lower score not recorded.)

Zulu Gems: This is sort of a combination between Tetris and Bejeweled.
Result: Me: 2500, #1GF!: (lower score not recorded.)

Tropix: This is another variation on the “match 3″ puzzle game. I got to level 2-6 before I was bored shitless and handing the mouse to #1GF!, who had the opposite reaction and played until I made her move on.
Result: An unscored, mind-numbing tie

So, as you can see, the final score was 1 tie, 5 wins for me, and 2 wins for #1GF!, making me the clear video game and PC game champion of the apartment. [Cue fanfare]
