The Jukebox Hero Kid
Even though I’ve never been a huge Foreigner fan, I can tell you the first time I heard “Jukebox Hero”. I was around 10, and my friend had stolen it out of his brother’s records and brought it down to the tweed clad, schoolhouse record player in the linoleum and paneled basement that everyone seemed to have in those days. I sort of shrugged when the kid told me that I had to hear it, and then moved the needle back several times to hear the song over again. I can remember that the song was on the album Foreigner 4 because for a while there, I tacked the four onto the band’s name, calling them “Foreigner 4″.
Kids are fun and all, but I’m not normally in the habit of posting videos of them here on the blog because it’s a slippery slide into pictures of kitties and talking about my period. This kid, however, gets a pass. Even though he isn’t tall enough to put a foot on the monitor and strike a rock idol pose, he gets so into “Jukebox Hero” that he ends up eating his microphone.
It’s almost inspirational, but raises the question: are rock fans created or born?

I like how he occasionally gets distracted by things out the car window! And the Billy Idol sneer when he chomps into the mic.

I will go on record as to say that this is a slippery slope to go down. I don’t think that it is a good idea to post these types of “cutesy” video’s. The enxt thing I know you’ll be posting video’s with a racoon being chased by a tiny dog. Please I beg you don’t ever do this again. Just give us 30 somethings guys what we want. Star Wars Geekery and digitly altered pictures (not pornographic) of Sarah Palin.

Unlike yourself, I was a huge Foreigner fan in my day. Unlike your other post readers I think the video was a riot. I lol and played it for a few other friends who also thought it was entertaining. We just kept wondering where the hell one finds such video and why???

Foreigner 4 was my first ever casette tape. My Aunt gave it to me for Christmas after she found out my mother was giving me a tape recorder. That tape got played so many times I think it eventually wore out. It was mindblowing to a 9 year old kid and I am sure I did the same thing that kid did. The only thing I do know is the kid did the song better.

Ok, I am not sure if this falls into the born or created category. I have a feeling it may create a whole new category for rockers. I will let the audience decide for itself.

I send this because I know Jon is a huge fan of this song.
