Add titles and alt tags to movies. Check Video Vixens

It looks like Netflix has added around 100 movies to the Watch Instantly service in the last couple of weeks, putting the total number of titles at around 5300 movies. I’m throwing out only eight that I think are worth a watch, but as usual, there are very few recent titles. Sure, Sudden Impact has the famous “Go ahead, make my day” and Magnum Force has that classic 70’s Dirty Harry action, but they’re both 25+ years old.

The Hudsucker Proxy clocks in at about 15 years old, Clay Pigeons at 10, and the only newer movies are independent. It’s a typical complaint about the service: until Netflix can secure more modern, major studio releases, the Watch Instantly service will remain an archive of indie, classic, and cult movies. There’s plenty of good things to watch if you’re a cult or classic movie fan, but I don’t think that they have enough mainstream offerings to get people to justify spending a hundred bucks on a piece of equipment to watch them.

As if disk space were free, Netflix slipped in Under The Cherry Moon (starring Prince), Six Pack (starring Kenny Rogers), and Indecent Proposal (which won Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Supporting Actor from the Razzies). I don’t know a sober person who would sit down and watch any of these 15 years ago, and I don’t know any now. They also slipped Video Vixens, a 1975 Troma sexploitation “comedy”. It was originally rated XXX, but it can’t be considered XXX by today’s standards. The movie is so bad that not even a large amount of full frontal nudity will be enough to keep you interested.
