RSSNetflix Watch Instantly Additions For April 17
It looks like Netflix has added around 164 movies to the Watch Instantly service in the last couple of weeks, putting the total number of titles at almost 4000 movies. I’ve listed 9 that stand out, but I can’t say that I’m particularly psyched about any of them.
For folks who are old enough to remember Jim’s answering machine, the GAAHHH OOOH AHHHHH! of the fire alarm, or “1 Adam 12, 1 Adam 12, see the man at [location] about [crime]“, seasons of The Rockford Files, Adam 12, and Emergency! have all been added for those days when you’re drunk, you’re bored, the cable is out, your friends all died, you’re glued to the floor, and you’re trying to pass time while waiting for someone to discover you’re missing. For those of you who need that extra something to get you to chew your own legs off and crawl away to safety, multiple seasons of both Charles In Charge and Gimme a Break were added.
Unless you can find some recommendations that I missed, I’ll have to say that it wasn’t a particularly good batch this round.

I’d say Steel Magnolias and A League of Their Own should be on the recommendations as far as being fairly big-name movies that you’d find in a regular rental store and that a significant number of people might want to watch (compared to a lot of the Instant movies, which seem to have a very narrow appeal and/or which I’ve never heard of…lots of B-movies and worse).
Thanks so much for these posts, by the way! I keep up fairly well with what’s been added, but I love the list of what’s been taken down. Makes it much easier to keep in mind what’s available to watch.

Ok, here’s the true beauty of Watch Instantly…you don’t have to watch the whole movie to get your money’s worth.
I decided to watch My Best Friend’s Wedding for one part and one part only…When Rupert Everett and cast sing that ridiculous Dionne Warwick “Say A Little Prayer for You” in the restaurant where the dude is standing in the background waving his big lobster claws in time with the tune!
No other part of that movie is remotely appealing, but dammit that’s one funny part that I wanted to see. And I didn’t have to pay Blockbuster rates to do so.
But, they have irked me a bit. The Tudors, Season 2 is up on Watch Now, but Season 1 isn’t. Now how’s a girl supposed to know what’s going on if she can’t watch Season 1 first (without queuing them up for delivery)!?

#1GF! might disagree with you on that assessment, but I’m not fighting you. If julia Roberts never made another movie, I don’t think that I’d notice.
They have to get you somehow! It can’t be all roses and puppies.

Have I ever told you I hate roses? Truly despise them as a flower?
I also hate diamonds.
But I lurve the puppies!
And, of course, Tudors, Season 1 is queued up because I heard this show is awesome.
