Good Netflix Watch Now Additions For March 5
I just calculated that there are now more than 3500 movies available on the Netflix On Demand service. I went through the new additions for the last month or so, and came up with more than a dozen decent watches.
If you only watch one of these, please watch The King of Kong. It’s a documentary about the guy who broke the world Donkey Kong record. As a geek, I loved it. Even #1GF! who is not geeky, couldn’t resist getting emotionally involved in the story.
If you only watch two, make the second Point of No Return. It’s the American remake of Le Femme Nikita starring Bridget Fonda.

Bah on PONR. The original French version was better. I’d replace that recommendation with the “An Evening with Kevin Smith”. Way, way funny stuff, especially if you’re a K. Smith fan. Plus part of it was filmed at Clark U., my school. Go Cougars!*
*The cougar mascot is evening funnier now at class reunions when talking to the 30 – 40 year old alumnae who go around saying, “I’m a cougar!” me-ow.

Not a fan of PoNR after seeing the original La Femme Nikita.
There’s also:
The Devil’s Own
Spun
Philadelphia
The Man with Two Brains
and the quintessential chick flick-Ice Castles

Didn’t you write a post once about how bad Gattaca was? Or is that my imagination playing tricks on me?

KFC: It wasn’t as good, no, but youcan’t say that PONR was good.
Yo Sis: Billy Mitchell might have a good side…
M-Shel: Thanks for the recommendations.
Pablo: Holy crap, you’re right! I included it because the star rating was so high that I thought that maybe I was mistaken about my feelings on it. You’re right, though. I hated the movie back in July of ’07, and described it as “Beyond complete crap”. I’m taking it off.

Thank you so much for letting me know that King of Kong is now up on instant watch! I’ve been wanting to see this for months but there is some weird problem with the Netflix disc encoding that won’t play on my machine. Had to rent it and send it back to them 3 times before we figured out it wasn’t a scratched or broken disk, but an encoding problem (never had this before with any other disc). I really didn’t want to have to get it from Blockbuster… now I can watch it at the comfort of my own PC! You’ve made my day!!!
