RSSFineTune Friday: Battle Of The Sexes
We have finally arrived at the main event, an all-out cage match of boys versus girl in the FineTune Friday Battle of the Sexes.
On the one side we have the fist-fighting, meat-eating, beard wearing, stinky in the woods men with the most macho playlists they could kill and drag into the competition with their own bare hands. Their opponents today are the heel-wearing, cat-fighting, pink drink sipping, pretty as a daisy ladies accentuating the most feminine playlists they could conjure up from their wily bag of lady tricks.
Fighters on your marks. Let’s get ready to rummmmbblllllleee!

I thought it would be easy, but trying to find songs that are macho and not misogynistic was a more difficult than I expected. This was the first time that I worked on a list for a couple of hours and still had 20 to go. I was not psyched, but there are some gems in there.

I “Whooped Batman’s Ass” is universal. That is one of the best songs of all time.

My playlist is actually a battle within itself. I posted half of the songs for the macho man and half for the beautiful ladies. So there is a half point for the guys their.

Because nothing says “testosterone” like a bunch of guys jumping around on stage sweating in front of a bunch of guys in the pit swinging their arms around, hitting and running into each other, and sweating.
You don’t see that kinda stuff at a Tori Amos concert – I guarantee that.
(I would have used Ani Defranco as an example, but I believe she could be more masculine than some guys in most cases)

I think most people think of rock as aggressive and it’s the easiest connection to make with the male ego. My playlist spanned rap, metal, and country, so I found macho in all types of music. In my mind, rap can actually be more macho and verging on misogynistic

I agree! I think you can find stereotypically macho elements in rock, rap, and country, but because rock is so aggressive and (normally) loud it is easiest to associate rock = macho.
