Guitar Hero III Set List Is Looking Good

Pre-Order Guitar Hero III at the RedOctane Store
With the October 28th Release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock just around the corner, I figured I’d check around and see if the set list was available anywhere yet. I know I shouldn’t be trusting interwebbian rumor, but several sites are saying that the game will include some of the bands and songs that I had been hoping for in the last two versions.

According to various sources, it looks like the game is going to include tracks from The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies, Tenacious D, Slayer (!), ‘Sabbath, Weezer, Aerosmith, I. Ron Maiden, the Scorpions, and it doesn’t look like I’ll ever get Foghat out of my head.

Its rumored to include over 70 songs, half of which will be performed by the original artists. That means we shouldn’t be putting up with as many crappy Danzig covers as we did in previous versions. It’s priced about $10 higher than the Guitar Hero II, but this one is set to include a wireless guitar controller.

Some Tracks That I’ve Been Waiting For:

“3’s and 7’s” – Queens of the Stone Age
“Barracuda” – Heart
“Bulls on Parade” - Rage Against the Machine
“Cherub Rock” - The Smashing Pumpkins
“Mississippi Queen” – Mountain
“The Number of the Beast” – I. Ron Maiden
“Paranoid” – Black Sabbath
“Raining Blood” – Slayer
“Rock and Roll All Nite” – Kiss
“Rock You Like a Hurricane” – Scorpions
“La Grange” – ZZ Top
“The Seeker” – The Who
“Welcome to the Jungle” - Guns ‘n’ Roses
“Slow Ride” – Foghat

And One I Haven’t:

“Go That Far” – Bret Michaels Band

Guitar Hero makes me angry. I think it’s hard to play if you actually play guitar. I thought I was just being a hater, but at least one other person (Slash) agrees. It’s frustrating because it doesn’t exactly follow the guitar melody! Do you have this problem?

3’s and 7’s, Bulls on Parade and Raining Blood should be awesome though.

I do end up getting dinged for playing more notes than are there on the easier levels, but I completely appreciate the enjoyment of going through a song I like with a full band that plays a song perfectly every time.

You get the the rock star feel without the having to spend hours and hours in a practice space that smells like stale beer and musicians.

I don’t own a game console, nor have I ever played GH, but this list is really making me want one.

I’ve been wanting a Wii since they came out, but getting my hands on one has been a different story.

I’m gonna have to work really hard toward accomplishing that.
