I link to blogs that I read regularly, it is admittedly for my own use more than anything else. I love getting linked, I don't care about the context. I once got a link from one guy who basically said I was crazy. I cherish that link.

Personally I like when people link to me. Even if they did say my site was crap - that will probably give my site more attention than if they said it was great. Everyone wants to see the crap sites that are out there to make fun of them ;)

But seriously, I'll take what I can get. btw, thanks for the link :)

No one was getting targeted specifically. I was just wondering if people cared how they were linked or if you all just think that a link is a link is a link.

i would have taken "reciprocal links" to mean "i link to these people, and they link back to me, meaning we share a more meaningful online connection and/or have more in common than my one-way links, who may not necessarily know or acknowledge my referencing them".

i'd call it a pretty good link.

half of my technorati links are from me, linking to my own site, from other areas within my site. so a reciprocal link from a real person with something interesting to say, well... that's just gravy.

Was this post directed at me specifically?
I'm not offended at all (and hope you weren't either). It was just how I chose to organize my links, on a whim when I was setting up my sidebar.
I do in fact, I enjoy your blog very much and check back often to see new posts.

JR: Gracias. That is much appreciated. I am a reciprocal fan.

Michelle: I don't think I'm actually read outside of Chicago... except maybe in Australia, which is only because I was a minor soap star there in the early 90's.

DavidM: I really hope that you're not offended. I do appreciate the link. And your blog is your territory, and I think you can do whatever you want with it (even if you put me in the "worst blog eva" category). I guess it was just a weird thing to come across, like being listed under "Partner Site" or something.

Well, I actually link to your blog. Under the "LinkBack" category on my sidebar, where as you have me in the "Blogs On The Radar" section.
I have my links set up in 3 sections, "Daily Reading" which are sites that are larger and haven't linked to me, i.e.-Gizmodo, Stereogum. "Friends" which are people that I actually know who run blogs, are in bands, run labels etc. and "LinkBack" which is sites that link to me, that I don't know.
Being in a certain category doesn't mean I like one site any less or more than the others, it's just how I decided to classify them.
I personally appreciate the links anywhere I can get them. Unless you know, it's under the heading of "Don't ever go here, omg, worst blog eva"

I'm with JR...the links on my blog are MY access to the pages I really like (though I've been lazy and need to add a coupla new ones) and want to read regularly...I've decided I must find more blogs outside Chicago--I'm becoming citycentric! Oh and I have no qualms about ditching a blog if it gets boring for too long. I'm a biatch like that.

Bottom line, a link is a link. I get emailed on a regular basis by people who want to exchange links - but if I dont like their blog I'm not gonna link them. I keep my blog links short and sweet and only link to blogs I personally will visit on a regular basis and are blogs that I enjoy. But if someone else wants to chuck me in a reciprocal link category... I'll take that. And yeah, I've got you linked 'cos I like what you do. :)
