More Cowbell!
My sister has decided to take up the CD challenge, but requested that I compile a CD with “the best songs featuring a cowbell.” Mmm tasty musical challenge.
Me: Songs with a cowbell…niiiice.
Brain: [bell][bell][bell][bell][bell][bell][bell] duh nah ni NAH!
Me: Mississippi Queen by Mountain. Right. What else?
Brain: Mississippi Queen!
Me: Right. Fu Manchu has a lot of cowbell songs…
Brain: duh nah nah NAH You know what I mean!
Me: Right. What else?
Brain: Mississippi Queen!
Me: Stop. I need others.
Brain: You know what I mean…brickum brickum bwawwww ni neaaww neawwww
Me: Fine. Take this. Hellooooooo. Is it me your looking for?
Brain: Noooooo!
Me: Tell me how to win your heart, ’cause I haven’t got a clue
Brain: I’m meeeeeeellllttttinnngggg!
So, because my brain is in a maintenance cycle, I’m stuck. If you have any unused brain cycles, please post a comment to help me to recall the best cowbell songs.

I’m pretty sure any Cake album is full of Cowbells. PS – I love Lionel Richie’s Hello. It’s worth it just for the video with the blind girl receiving the prank phone calls.

Whatever that song is that goes “now you’re messing with a – a SON of a BITCH!” Oh wait, is that the same Nazareth song listed above? Damn it, I have no contribution.

I sadly am lacking that purple Nazareth album with hair of the dog on it. It really is the greatest cowbell song ever, but it just seems wrong to have to buy a song that you’ve heard so many times that it’s a part of your childhood. Doesn’t it?

Unfortunately – I DO own it. I’ll burn it for you and send it along with my CD Challenge. Which you can expect Summer of 2008.

More Cowbell! The Compilation
I’m working on the cowbell CD requested by my sister, and it’s turning out to be a major project. How does one find songs with cowbell in them without listening to a TON of CD’s? You could use the list that Buzzy linked to, but you…
